Mudcloth aka Bògòlanfini (which means earth with cloth) has origins in Mali, West Africa. It is one of my favorite textiles. The entire process that goes into making mudcloth is truly fascinating.

Mudcloth is made from cotton. Strips are woven and sewn together. Organic dyes are used to create intricate patterns. Historically, the cloth was worn during special ceremonies as a symbol of identity and heritage. It’s a labor-intensive process and I give kudos to the talented artisans who make it.

This tote has a zipper closure, black leather base and handles, and inside zippered pocket.
